Care facility

Each member (inmate) will have his own bed and individual space in a cottage, shared by 10 members. They will be looked after by 1 full time care givers assisted by at least 3 members of non residential staff. This will include full time staff and volunteers.

Their cottage will have in house facilities for baths, toilets, recreation and a common room. Each member will have access to mobility through a wheelchair or any other form of assistance that may be found suitable as per his or her physical condition.

The resident care giver will live with them and will have an individual room within the cottage.

Education and training

All members who are able to express through their own abilities, will have complete access to full education designed specifically to their needs.

Tertiary training in repetitive simple tasks, to more complex tasks will be provided as well.

Post training, they will be able to work in the general workshop where they will be used for simple chores such as packaging soap material, managing simple laundry tasks, maintenance, etc. This again, depends on the physical and intellectual ability of each individual.

Business Development unit

A separate unit will be developed as business unit that will be managed and run almost on the same lines as a business enterprise. This unique project will work towards providing employment/business development skills to the members.

 

The business unit will need assistance for development from professionals who have knowledge in this field

Shopping and stores

Each member will immediately have a bank account opened in their name, where a monthly deposit will be maintained by the administration. Each member will have access to funds through a simple ATM machine and all purchases at the in house stores will be carried out through either electronically or through a special charge slip. A second level of checks will be managed and regular checks will be maintained to ensure that there is little or no misuse of funds by the shop vendors. This will include maintaining a complete inventory with the management through a detailed management inventory system updatable regularly.

Recreation

All members will have in house facility in their own cottages for recreation. Besides in house television and access to music and entertainment, they will also have the facility at large, to take a walk, visit the farm, the lake, and spend time close to nature. A central park with an open air theatre will provide for regular screening of films, theatre and the possibility of special artists to perform for the members.

Clothing and house keeping

Each member will have access to a range of free clothing provided regularly by the management. This will include special forms of clothing as well. Most clothing will be raised through donations in kind, but to maintain a regular supply a certain amount of clothing will need to be purchased.

Housekeeping needs such as linen, quilts, bed covers, towels, toiletries, and all other necessities will be provided by the Village. Any extra necessities can be purchased at the in house store.

Laundry services

The laundry department will ensure that all clothes are collected uniformly and hygienically washed and maintained for each individual member. Proper markings will be maintained by each cottage care giver.  Each member will contribute a nominal amount of funds towards maintenance of the laundry which would range not more than US$ 5 per month.

High quality Diet

The dietician in consultation with the social worker, and the doctor will design individual nutrition and diet charts for each member, a copy which will be maintained by the cottage care giver and the main kitchen supervisor. The food will be prepared in extremely high quality and clean environment, and will be distributed to each house at appropriate timing as fixed. The members will also commune as far as possible, once a day at the main dining hall to have the opportunity to share and interact with a larger group of people.

The rights of each member

All members will have the implicit and explicit right to control their own funds provided they are in a capacity to do so. They also will have implicit right to bring forth any complaints to any of the management team through regular interaction. Each member has the right to live in dignity and that will always be upheld. Any member of staff found abusing such powers or ill treating any member would be suspended, given notice or terminated after giving due fairness to explain oneself.

Expiry of an inmate

Every member’s health concern will be our primary objective, but it cannot be avoided that such children or people do not have a long life span, sometimes ranging from a few years to as much as 60 to 70 years.  In the event of a member expiring, every respect will be given to ensure that the member’s funeral in conducted in a manner of respect of honor and in keeping with any personal wishes the member may express. The sponsor and/or the originating institute member may be present to partake of the ceremony.

Availability of membership space

As it is clear that admission will only be based on the availability of space for a new member, it will be up to the management to open the admission to the next needy prospective member from any of the designated associated organizations.
